Tropical Oasis
Included in this month’s Sew Sampler box are 2 charm packs of Sun Print fabric by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics. The colors are so vivid and perfectly tropical. What better pattern choice for this fabric than the included pattern, Mai-Tai.
Mai-Tai Quilt Pattern
The pattern features a small 6″ classic pineapple block. Background fabric was not included, so I decided to use the Black on Black cross weave from Moda fabrics and can be found at www.fatquartershop.com. I used this background in the Cookie Dough quilt and had plenty left over for this project. The black fabric really makes the bright tropical colors pop.

Pineapple Foundation Paper
The included foundation paper really makes this block simple and accurate. Apparently, this paper was distributed to the Sew Sampler members before being made available to the public. That is a huge advantage of a subscription!
Add a Quarter 6″ Plus Pink Ruler
The Add a Quarter ruler really makes trimming the block during the constructions process.
Alex Anderson’s 4-In-1 Essential Sewing Tool
The sewing tool is nice. I already had tools that I prefer, so I’m going to gift this to my granddaughter in a future quilty box gift.
Barn Block Recipe #11
I was late to the party with the Sew Sampler subscription. I didn’t get in on the first 7 blocks, so I’m going to devise something using Blocks 9-12 at a later date.
