Quilter's Planner Weekly Blocks

Quilter’s Planner Weekly Blocks

It appears that I can’t get caught up with this blog. My resolve to get this blog up and running again after a long hiatus has been a bit more difficult than I anticipated.  I guess having time to sew increases the amount of time spent blogging.

And, I have been so busy sewing.

The bi-weekly blocks found in the Quilter’s Planner are simple 6 inch blocks that are an excellent primer for beginners. There are a total of 27 blocks. Each block takes minimal scraps and can made as scrappy as you want.  I am choosing to use the same fabric as the Hexie Snowflake.

I am making 2 of each block. They are quick and at the end of the year, I will have a completed project.  Maybe an interesting backing for the Hexie Snowflake quilt or a companion throw.

Here are my blocks so far (and this gets me caught up and maybe a bit ahead of schedule):

Weekly Block for the Week of January 1

January 1 block is a simple 4 patch.  Each 3 1/2″ square sews together for the finished 6″ block with just 3 seams.

The Double 4 Patch block is a simple 3 inch finished 4 patch sewn together in a larger 4 patch using 2 background squares.

The Rail Fence block , another very simple block, using 2″ strips that finish at 1 1/2″ and the strips are sewn to a background strip. Each block segment is identical and turned in different directions before sewing all 4 segments together.

2019-QP Sew Along

Quilter’s Planner 2019 Sew Along

The Quilter’s Planner Sew Along this year is a block a month program to make “Hexie Snowflake.” The pattern and instructions are found in the 2019 Quilter’s Planner and companion magazine.  You can order your planner here.

I have chosen the same fabric collection as seen in the sample in the Quilter’s Planner magazine. The fabric is “Smitten” by designers Bonnie and Camille.

I am using the collections’ “Smitten Cream Little Dot Darling” for the background.  It is a pretty tone on tone.  I ordered a lot extra for future projects.

The fabrics are all washed and starched and ready to go!
