It appears that I can’t get caught up with this blog. My resolve to get this blog up and running again after a long hiatus has been a bit more difficult than I anticipated. I guess having time to sew increases the amount of time spent blogging.
And, I have been so busy sewing.
Quilter’s Planner Weekly Blocks
[fancy_link link=”http://QuiltersPlanner.com/2019-blocks”]QP 2019 Weekly Blocks Sew Along[/fancy_link]
The bi-weekly blocks found in the Quilter’s Planner are simple 6 inch blocks that are an excellent primer for beginners. There are a total of 27 blocks. Each block takes minimal scraps and can made as scrappy as you want. I am choosing to use the same fabric as the Hexie Snowflake.
I am making 2 of each block. They are quick and at the end of the year, I will have a completed project. Maybe an interesting backing for the Hexie Snowflake quilt or a companion throw.
Here are my blocks so far (and this gets me caught up and maybe a bit ahead of schedule):
Weekly Block for the Week of January 1
January 1 block is a simple 4 patch. Each 3 1/2″ square sews together for the finished 6″ block with just 3 seams.
Weekly Block for the Week of January 13
The Double 4 Patch block is a simple 3 inch finished 4 patch sewn together in a larger 4 patch using 2 background squares.
Weekly Block for the Week of January 27
The Rail Fence block , another very simple block, using 2″ strips that finish at 1 1/2″ and the strips are sewn to a background strip. Each block segment is identical and turned in different directions before sewing all 4 segments together.
