I love one block quilts! Especially one where the size will be determined by your choice of a layer cake, a charm pack or a mini-charm pack paired with any background.  The Moda Love Quilt Pattern fits the bill and is so easy.  It can be pieced in a very few hours … any size!

Garden Variety Charm Pack

I chose the Garden Variety Charm Pack that is the same fabric that I made my Farm to Garden Wallhanging. I loved the fabric that much. It gives a clan vintage look and the fabric designs are small enough to use on any project.

I was especially pleased with how my points matched up this time.  I guess practice really does make perfect.

January Sew Sampler Project

January 2019 Sew Sampler

January Sew Sampler from Fat Quarter Shop

Included in this month’s sampler was the red Olfa’s Rotary Cutter, 40th Anniversary edition. It wasn’t even available in the stores yet.  After it debuted online in the stores a week or so later, it sold out within hours.  I was so glad to receive one in the monthly subscription box.

These subscription boxes are just awesome.  I wasn’t sure I would like spending money on the unknown, but so far, I am loving all of the projects and notions.

The little bird needle threader is so cute.  It has no wire, so it should last longer than the wire ones. Notepads are always welcome and this one has maybe 50 or so pages.

Little Snippets by Bonnie and Camille

Little Snippets by Bonnie and Camille

January’s project was a cute little wallhanging using Bonnie and Camille’s “Little Snippets” honey bun and fabric. I had to add my own Bella white solid background and red polka dot binding as well as the backing.

Mini Swoon by Thimble Blossoms

Mini Swoon by Thimble Blossoms

To match my Swoon 16 Bed Quilt, I made a very small replica wallhanging, The Mini Swoon by Thimble Blossoms. The mini quilt measures 19″ x 19″ and uses the smallest scraps.  The Swoon block is a bit time consuming and this mini version is no exception. The small pieces can be a bit tedious but is well worth the trouble.

Mini Swoon by Thimble BlossomsI only had a few little bitty pieces of fabric left after finishing the bedquilt and this pattern has pieces so small that I could just eek out enough to get this one little quilt done and I love it.  It is one of those little projects that gives you a lot of bang for your buck with a large wow factor.

I added a Flange Binding like I did on the bed sized quilt.  I really like this binding technique.  It frames a quilt nicely and it can be done on the sewing machine without hand stitching.  I added Missouri Star Quilt Co. tutorial on Flange Binding at the bottom of this post.

Finished Sew Sampler Projects

Sew Sampler Monthly Subscription Box

November 2018 Finished Wallhanging

November Sew Sampler

I finished the November and December Sew Sampler projects just days before receiving the January 2019 subscription box. I would like to think that I can keep up with the subscription by making every project before receiving the next.  But, that remains to be seen.

The November 2018 box was so sweet. It is the Farm to Garden wallhanging. I previously posted my process.  It is only 26″ x 26″ and I am currently in the process of getting the rod cut to hang it.

This one was definitely a keeper.  Several people have posted their finished wallhanging and the consensus is that this particular monthly project was very popular.

December 2018 Finished Tote

I loved how this tote looks finished.  I don’t use totes like this so this one is going in my gift box to give away. This is my strategy going forward in an effort to keep up and sew every one of these monthly projects.  Maybe by December, I will have most of my Christmas gifts completed.

The fabric “Woodland Rose” is beautiful.

I think if I were to have designed this tote, I would have used the red as corners instead of the blue.  But, all in all it is beautiful.
